The Meaningful Man

What does it take to be a man? Is it being tall in stature? Maybe possessing a muscular might? How about having a bushy beard, smelling of pine and wearing a worn out flannel shirt? Do these things make a man? I ask because through the years, our definition has seemed to change. No longer is a man held to responsibility because he is a man, but rather manhood is classified once a certain age is reached. This is telling of our times.

Unequivocally, a man is he who loves deeply with his heart and who cherishes with the whole of his soul. A man is he who accepts his responsibility of adulthood, of manhood. A man is not built on age but rather on experience, on the blazing battles he has waged against those who come against him and his closely-held morals. A real man is the one who deserves the love of a good, Godly woman because he himself is of God, holy and prayerful. Strong in character yet meek in presence, a man stands tall and willfully fulfills his obligations, doing so with set determination. A man is he who puts others before himself and simply does not know the meaning of “selfish”. Meaningful and honorable, a man is he who can be admired but also readily relied upon.

Yet in these times, this man is the exception rather than the rule. Yes, the goodly men are there, humbly working toward that which is theirs but those foul, lacking many have made them in to a rarity, something to behold if ever witnessed. Today, this has never been more true.

Though they may be rare, they are rightly needed. Righteous, wonderful women need the men who will hold them tight, protecting them and providing for them while supporting them in all they do. A man of this nature is needed to lead his own while the world seems to be frantically spinning toward all that we fear. Yes yes yes, these times call for more real men to be borne, to be brought about…for they are needed now more than ever. Now, today, in this moment, the meaningful man is needed.
